Endless Printer Instructions – Automatic Filament Reloading for Continuous 3D Printing
The Endless Printer allows you to automatically reload filament during a print, so you can use up every spool completely without interruptions. Instead of wasting leftover filament or manually swapping spools, the system ensures a seamless transition from one filament to the next - perfectly for printfarms.
In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to properly set up and use the Endless Printer. You will also find tips to ensure reliable switching, avoid failed prints, and get the most out of your filament.
Before You Begin
This guide will show you how to use the Endless Printer correctly.
Please read it carefully before starting. It only takes about 2 to 5 minutes.
How to Use the Endless Printer – Step by Step
Set up the device
Step 1
Place the Endless Printer next to your 3D printer and ensure it is stable.
Connect the USB-C cable (5V, 2,2A or higher) to your Endless Printer.
Make sure all components are properly connected and ready for operation.
Connect the Bowden tube
Step 2
Connect the provided PTFE tube from the Endless Printer to your printer’s
hotend/extruder. Please note that the larger inner diameter of the tube (funnel) should
be on the Endless Printer. This prevents the filament from getting stuck.
*If your printer doesn't come with a Bowden tube as standard, you may need to print an adapter.
Prepare the Filament for loading
Step 3
Straighten the first 10 cm of the filament. This will make it easier for your printer to load it into the hot end.
Cut the filament at a 45‑degree angle. This orientation helps the filament enter the system smoothly and prevents it from catching.
First Loading Process
Step 4
Place a spool on one of the trays and feed the 45°‑cut filament into the tube until the Endless Printer pulls it in automatically. It will transport the filament to the print head and then stop. Load it into the print head as usual.
Then repeat the process with the second spool, but this time push the filament only until the indicator light turns on. After that, push it about 1 cm further to secure it — but do not push it beyond that.

Step 5
When the active filament runs out, the Endless Printer automatically detects the empty tip and advances the next spool’s filament until it touches the leftover end. The print head then grabs the new filament and continues the print without interruption. After the reload is complete, you can replace the empty spool with a full one.

Common Mistakes & Troubleshooting FAQ
Important: Do Not Power On With Filament Loaded
Never power on the Endless Printer with filament already loaded. The sensors cannot determine the filament's current position at startup. With the new firmware, this is indicated by a repeating double-flash pattern. The old firmware does not show this warning, but the same rule applies.
Filament is not feeding smoothly
This is usually caused by resistance somewhere along the filament path.
Check that the spool can rotate freely and that the filament is not rubbing against edges or getting caught.
Make sure the filament path is as straight as possible between the Endless Printer and your 3D printer.
Filament end gets stuck during automatic switching
In most cases, the end of the filament is deformed, bent, or slightly thickened after leaving the spool. This can prevent it from passing cleanly through the system.
Cutting the filament end clean and straight before feeding it into the system can help significantly.

Filament gets stuck inside the print head
This can happen if your print head has sharp edges or gaps in the filament path.
Avoid these, as well as complex filament paths. The simpler, the better! Also make sure the filament is cut cleanly to prevent it from getting caught!
Don't insert next Filament until loading & reloading is finished
Always let the loading or reloading process finish completely before inserting the next filament. The system requires each process to be fully completed to avoid errors.
