Endless ReSpooler Instructions – Professional Filament Respooling Made Simple

The Endless ReSpooler is a precision filament respooling system powered by an electric motor that ensures clean, perfectly wound spools every time. Designed to seamlessly integrate with the Endless Splicer, it delivers professional-grade results for consistent filament management and optimal print quality.

Before You Begin: Endless ReSpooler Setup

Required equipment: An empty spool to wind onto, the filament (or joined filament from an Endless Splicer session) you want to rewind, and a power source for the unit. The Endless ReSpooler is powered by a standard USB-C power supply.

Prerequisites: Place the unit on a flat, stable surface with clearance for the spool to rotate freely. If rewinding spliced filament, complete splicing with the Endless Splicer first.

Handling: Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the motor and spool while running; avoid pulling on filament while it's winding.

Endless ReSpooler Instructions: Setup and Operation

Prepare the workspace

Step 1

Place the Endless ReSpooler on a flat, stable surface near a power outlet, with room for filament to feed in and the spool to rotate freely.

Install the empty spool

Step 2

Mount an empty compatible spool onto the spool holder so it rotates freely. It is compatible with every standard 1 kg spool.

Route the filament

Step 3

Place the filament spool to be rewound on the left side as shown in the image. Guide it through the guide with your hand and manually attach the filament end to the empty spool and secure it firmly. For rewinding multiple nearly empty spools, use the Endless Splicer tool, which is explained in detail with a video below.

Connect and check the system

Step 4

Connect the Endless ReSpooler to power using a standard USB-C power adapter rated for 5V/2A. Insert the USB-C cable into the device port and switch on the unit at the power button.
Note: The older type of the ReSpooler uses an included power adapter.

Confirm readiness and start winding

Step 5

Check that the filament sits securely and that the spool turns freely before starting.

Next, slowly turn the dial in the center front toward the right to begin respooling the filament. Ensure nothing becomes caught during the process and that the filament winds smoothly and moves freely without obstruction.

finishing up

Step 6

When the filament on the left spool runs empty, slow down the feeder dial just before the filament exits the guide. Manually pull the filament through and secure it to the new spool using the designated holes to prevent tangling. If tangling does occur, the EndSnapper would have prevented it—consider adding one to your setup for worry-free operation.

Maintenance

Step 7

Maintenance is essential for optimal performance. Keep the filament guide regularly lubricated so it glides smoothly up and down. Use any standard lubricant – household oils like cooking oil work fine too. This extends your respooler's lifespan and ensures consistent results.

Endless ReSpooler: clean, evenly wound filament spools

The Endless ReSpooler is an automatic filament rewinder that winds loose or leftover filament onto a new spool using an electric motor and precise guidance. It's built for makers, rePET producers, and anyone who wants clean, evenly wound filament spools instead of tangled loops. It pairs perfectly with the Endless Splicer, letting you join filament leftovers and then rewind them onto a fresh, usable spool.

Endless ReSpooler Troubleshooting & FAQ

The Endless ReSpooler does not start.

Check that the unit is properly connected to power and that the spool and filament are correctly seated. Make sure nothing is jammed. Lubrication is essential to prevent the filament guide from becoming stuck.

The filament is not winding evenly.

Ensure the filament feeds straight into the guide without twists or kinks, and verify that the spool rotates freely. Proper winding setup is critical to success. For instance, if the filament is anchored at the bottom of the spool but you begin winding at the top, the layers will become uneven and difficult to manage.

The filament breaks after the completed winding process.

After respooling, treat the filament briefly with heat in an oven or filament dryer using the standard drying temperature to relieve internal stress created by the winding process.

Which spools and filament types are compatible?

The Endless ReSpooler is designed to rewind standard 3D printer filament, including filament joined with the Endless Splicer. It supports every standard 1.75 mm filament.

Can I rewind filament joined with the Endless Splicer?

Yes. The Endless ReSpooler was specifically developed as an extension for the Endless Splicer and enables respooling of joined or leftover filaments. Together, the two devices form a complete system for efficient filament management. Be aware of material-specific requirements depending on filament type.

Tips & Best Practices for Filament Rewinding

  • Use the Endless ReSpooler together with the Endless Splicer to turn leftover filament ends into full, usable spools instead of waste.
  • Straighten the first few centimeters of filament before feeding it into the guide so it tracks smoothly from the start.
  • When securing filament at the bottom of a new spool, start winding from the bottom guide as well to ensure even, uniform layers throughout the spool.
  • Rewind filament onto a spool of similar or larger size than its original spool to avoid overfilling.
  • After respooling, treat the filament briefly with heat in an oven or filament dryer using the standard drying temperature to relieve internal stress created by the winding process.

Maintenance

Regular upkeep is crucial for maintaining peak functionality. The filament guide must remain properly lubricated to operate without friction during its vertical movement. Any general-purpose lubricant will suffice – even common household oils are suitable. Neglecting this step risks premature wear and compromised performance consistency or damage.

Safety & Important Notes

Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the motor and rotating spool while running. Always disconnect power before performing maintenance.
